October came quickly! our focus all winter was to complete the washrooms and have them ready for our October weddings. Unfortunately, they were not ready for our October 2nd wedding. We had to rent from Jody and the couple was not very happy, Micheal and Lindsay, especially because Micheal worked on the washrooms a lot! We tried:(
October 1 and 2 we got ready for the wedding and also had the wedding. It was a busy time. Frank cut the grass and Marie cleaned the barn. There is lots of squirrels inside so cleaning just before the wedding makes sense, to clean up any droppings and mess they make. And wait to put in glass door ways to properly seal the barn from rodents. Here are some pictures of me and my dad bartending.
On October 3, Marie took the kids, alone to Charleston Lake. This gave Frank a chance to catch up on videos for school. Here are some picture.
The twins reached 4 months! On October 4. They are so sweet. Smiling all the time (except in picture, because the phone is so intwresting!). They also started sleeping more, wake up about 5-6 hours after they go to bed, and then pretty much every hour until I get up.
Our October 9 wedding cancelled :(. The good thing about it is that it gives us another week to try to get these washrooms running! On October 5, we poured concrete for the footings of the stairs and Frank started to work on the vanities.
We are a bit frustrated because we think another wedding, the 16th is cancelling too. We really need to develop a contract and have a payment plan, so this doesn’t keep happening. We still continue to work on the washrooms, because the work has to get done anyway. Frank finished the stairs and Marie is doing the staining and lacquering of the vanities. Frank also started on the water supply.
As for the kids, the girls continue to go to school. They love it. Frank works on school work too and Marie hangs out with the little boys. On the weekend we all hang out together.
On October 7: Alice lost her first tooth. That night the tooth fairy came and left a kinder egg. The next day, she lost her second tooth. The tooth fairy missed her and came the second day…with two dollars. Here she is with one and two less teeth.
Today is Thanksgiving! We are having Deda over. Babi is in the Czech Republic by herself. I made a pumpkin pie, from scratch! The pumpkin came from my Garden. During Thanksgiving we found out that ours last two October weddings cancelled! It is very frustrating. We need to change our business, we lost a bunch. This Frank really stopped working on the washrooms to focus on his work. I still work on them when I can with the three boys. I’m staining the vanities. I hope I can do the doors too, but it depends if Frank gives them to me, he is really busy. I also work on my garden. It’s pretty fun because when I dig there are about four chickens and Peter competing for the worms. On the weekends I generally take the kids so Frank can work and the one weekend Frank’s went to Toronto to be with his friends.
October 17- Sophia took a bath with Alice and ft that her bangs were too long, so she cut them….
October 20 today we completed the electrical trench from the washrooms to cat house.
October 21, we went out to work on the washrooms and repaired the pipe that ran from the septic tank to the pump chamber. Frank glued the pipe in and will cement it in the next day. When Frank and I went inside Sophia and Alice were cleaning the house! Sophia washed the dishes! i was really proud of them. Peter has been a handful this week, he destroys everything and doesn’t listen well:( Im not sure if it because we give him less attention then we did to the girls, just because there is not enough hours or maybe because he is a boy.
October 23 - we worked hard today. Frank and I filled the hole between the pump chamber and pipe, with concret and caulking. We finished the trench to the cat house and I cut some dead branches from the spruce trees, to clean up the forest. Then Frank finished the railing for the rental and I put a coat of Tung oil on the floors in the washrooms. We decided to try to protect the wood floor using oil instead of lacquer. It really is an experiment and hopefully it will work. Then in the evening we went to Gananoque and Frank roller bladed with the girls and pushed the stroller, in an empty parking lot. They enjoyed it and got better. I went for a run.
On October 24 we went to church, had a big burn, and worked on sealing the hole of the pump chamber. The following week was pretty average. We went to dance on Monday. Frank worked at the rental with Peter, while I stayed with the girls at dance, with the babies. I really enjoy the one on one time I get with them while the other is dancing. The girls go to school in the morning, Frank works on school, and I hang out with the little boys until early afternoon. Then we work on the washroom. Currently we are sealing the pump chamber. Frank is also getting ready for the septic pump. On Friday I went to Hotel Dieu, so that a paediatrician can look over Adam and Ben. Everything was fine, except that Adam appeared a bit stiff? That night the kids carved pumpkins.
On Sunday the 31st, we went to church. After, we went to Gananoque to get fries and plumbing at Home Depot, to finish the washroom. We came home and Frank finished the washroom plumbing. Then we got ready for Halloween. it was a nice night and the kids had a lot of fun. Peter wanted to go trick or treating again the next night.
