December 2022

December 1: This is the day that we heard a countdown too for weeks now. Alice’s birthday!!! She is so excited, she had a calendar in her room and marked an x on each day that passes as we approached her birthday. She woke up and started asking for presents, I didn’t like that. Instead we opened up our advent calendar’s, every one got a water bottle. After school we celebrated. I made a rainbow cake, it was from cake mix, but, Alice liked it. Alice got a bean bag chair and a necklace with the letter A. Her birthday party is on Saturday. Frank is really stressed.

December 2: Today I was stressed! The birthday party is tomorrow! I spent all day cleaning the house really well. Then when everybody came home, I went to Kingston to pick up things at Micheals and Walmart, for the party. I hope it will go well. I made the cake and treasure hunt when I got home.

December 3: Birthday party day. We started with breakfast, I went and hid the clues to the treasure hunt. Frank cut up some 2x4s for me, for a craft. I didn’t make cookie dough, because it was too rushed and we probably wouldn’t have time to decorate anyway. When the girls got here they all played. I thought that I had to organize every thing, but, they just wanted to play. Eventually we made the Santa’s and then went outside for the treasure hunt. It rained and was cold, so they didn’t finish and came inside. We then brought the treasure to them, a piñata. They really enjoyed breaking it, got kind of violent. They were not interested in the tie dye stuff… so I’m just going to return it. We had cake and lunch and then they played again until they went home. I do like Alice’s friends moms, hopefully, I can see them more. It would be nice to have more mom friends from my kids lives. Two of the moms had twins too! That night we hung out and decompressed from the really stressful week for all! We played video games. Sophia is really good now. Her and Alice beat me 😳. Here are some silly videos I made.

December 4: Alice woke up and put on make up and tattoos that she got from her birthday. She also wrote in journal that she got. I am really proud of her trying to write. I told her and showed her my journal from when I was 8, and I think it inspired her. We went to church and had Christmas lunch. It was good and I didn’t have to cook. When we came home, Frank did some window frames. We decorated the living room with our Christmas Village. It took a long time. Then we played video games and went to bed.

December 5: it was a busy weekend. The kids and Frank left in the morning and I could catch up on things! I cleaned a lot and did laundry. It is nice to have a nice home again. At night I told the kids about Mikoulash, a Czech tradition, that I grew up with. They really wanted to do it, so we tried putting our shoes outside, to see if he would come. He did! He brought sweets and potatoes, so the kids know they are good, but also a little bit bad sometimes. I got the most potatoes, I guess I have to improve a lot!

December 6: Today was a stressful day, mainly for Frank. But it was busy for me too. In the morning I went to playgroup with the babies, then to Costco. When I came home Frank was home because he cancelled his class. We are trying to get the concrete pad done behind the house. Because it’s a warmer day, we decided to do it today. It was stressful for him because he had a lot of small things to do before the concrete comes. He had a small window of time. When concrete started pouring, the frame bulged and he thought it might give. He put in more braces and it held up. That night I took the girls to dance. Sophia did a hike at school with the environmental club.

December 7: Today was a home day, I was excited to get a lot of work done, but Benjamin didn’t nap too much. So we played a lot. Adam took a four hour nap. I did some sanding of trim and muddying of Peters room. I also sanded the wood filler from the window frames Frank made. Almost ready to paint. That night the kids went skating and Sophia and Alice had their tutoring lessons for reading.

December 8: Today was a busy day. The girls went to school, Alice had curling. Peter stayed at home because we had to go to the doctor to get his 4 year old vaccinations. The babies went to the doctor too, they had their 18 month vaccinations and check up. It was very hard to focus on what the doctor was doing, as having three little boys in a small space that is open to exploring was so exciting for them. It was hard to calm them all down. I think it sounds as though the babies are physically well developed, but their language is a bit behind. All my kids are like that, so I didn’t think much of it. After they learn to talk, they don’t stop…so I’m not in a hurry to get them there. Benjamin has a big head and Adam is on the small size with weight. Peter didn’t cry when he got two needles. The babies did, but they only got one needle. When we got home I went for a walk with the boys and then they took naps and Peter did his puzzle. In the evening was parent teacher interviews. The kids all seem to be doing well, except for the reading. All teachers are impressed with how much our children are trying in school, it makes me so happy! I think I’m doing a bad job, but, the teachers said they are really excellent people. We went home and went to bed.

December 9-11: it was the weekend! My friend Emilie had a birthday, here is her video we made.

December 12: Today everyone went to school. I was busy with the babies and cleaning our home. My mom came over to say hello, we haven’t seen each other for 3 months. She wants us to have a finished home. Frank came home really late because he had errands. The kids were good.

December 13: Peter told me about his friend Charlotte at school, he told me he loves her…awww. Today is a hard day, I’m trying 40 :s, so old! The kids went to school today. My mom took the twins for two hours, so I cleaned and painted window frames, I also went to buy chicken food. Then I had lunch with my mom. We then went for a walk and I went for a run. In the evening Michelle took the kids to dance and my family surprised me. All my siblings and my parents came out for dinner with me. It was really heartwarming. I haven’t seen them for about 3-4 years, all together. It was nice. Then I went home and went to bed.

December 14: Today was a pretty crazy day. I took the babies to Costco because I didn’t go on Tuesday. It was around 10:30 and it was so busy I couldn’t find a spot to park. The store was packed, the babies started out okay but then they kept trying to come out of the cart and I was losing it. It took 30 min to pay because of the line up. Definitely best time to shop is in the evenings. Then I did some more errands and came home. Frank picked up the girls after school because of tutoring and they went skating. Peter stayed at home with me to make a puzzle. He loves puzzles, he will sit for hours making them. Then we all had dinner and went to bed. Frank is stressed with school year end work.

December 15: Regular Thursday. Frank stayed late at work.

December 16: Today was a snow day! Lots of snow was suppose to come, but, not much did. Buses were cancelled and Franks classes were cancelled too. The girls went to school with Frank and I stayed at home with the boys. We had fun.

December 17-18: The weekend was busy. I had the kids the whole time and Frank did his work. He focused a lot on his school. We went to church on Sunday and I baked a gingerbread house.

December 19: Everyone went to work and school. After the kids came home we decorated the gingerbread house and hung out. Frank came home really late.

December 20: Frank was at home today because he is done teaching. He still had to go in for a marks meeting though. When he got home we went back to Kingston to go to Costco and to the girls dance classes. We also went to lablaws and got Pizza. We got home and went to bed.

December 21: Today started as a regular day. Frank was in Kingston. When he got home, he went to get a Christmas tree with SAP. We then all decorated it. I think the kids really liked it! Alice put the star on top. It was Peters turn, but, he traded that honour for a candy cane.

December 22: This was a nice day. The kids went to school, then my mom took the twins for a few hours. Frank and I were able to attend the children’s Christening concert at school. It was long, every grade performed. It was nice when it was our kids grade. Sophia was very loud, Alice very proper, and Peter was blowing us kisses the whole time. When they got home they said school was cancelled because a big storm was coming. We cleaned up and hung out. It was a nice night.

December 23: school was cancelled- a big storm was coming! It was a big one!

December 24-26: Here is a video of the past few days.

December 27: Today was a pretty normal day. Frank worked on the library/office. He was cleaning up the shingles and getting ready to put up some rafter ties. I took care of the kids. At night I went to Lyn’s birthday party. It was pretty fun.

December 30: Today I got up early and did laundry and went to the grocery store. I went for a run too. By noon I was waiting at the border to go to the states. I was going to spend new years in NYC with my sister. It was her gift to me for my birthday. It was really weird being without kids. Frank took them. I think he missed me but seemed to have a great time without me too. The drive was 6 hours. I stopped halfway to pick up Michelle and she drove the rest. The air bnb was in the Bronx. There were rats on the streets! We took a street car to Times Square and got drunk. It was really nice.

December 31: NYC is an amazing city. There is so much to do and so huge. We walked so much and we didn’t see it all. Just scratched the surface. There were a lot of people, because of the ball drop. A lot of security/cops everywhere. There was a line up to get into Times Square, it was 20 blocks long! It was only 3pm. I guess if you want to see the ball drop you have to come super early. Michelle said there are no washrooms, so you have to wear a diaper. There was over a million people in Times Square. We took the subway down, walked through Central Park, the Met, and then to the Empire State Building. We then went to a comedy show and ground zero. It was a great day.
