December 2023

December 1-7: Can’t believe December is here! We are well into December; it is super busy. We started December in Niagara Falls – I had a work meeting on November 29th and then three days family time after that. We went to Great Wolf Lodge; it was amazing for the kids. It was Alice’s birthday too. The lifeguards there are so on top of things, that even if I wasn’t always watching my children, I felt that they could never drown. We spent one night at the lodge; it was expensive! It got us two days of waterpark time, so that was nice. We spent all day there. The second day I had a few drinks, and it was so much fun. We then had a cheap hotel downtown Niagara, it was gross. But we were so tired that we just slept. Then we went for a hike in Niagara Glen, I used to bolder there so it brought back a lot of memories. Then we drove home.

The next day the kids had a snow day, which is pretty much good timing because they needed to unwind from the trip. A and B went to daycare though. Then Tuesday-Friday it was back to regular. School and Skating. Alice had a field trip with her school, there a picture from that day.

It’s end of year, so lots to do for Frank at work – he is pretty.

December 9-10: The weekend. So stressful, Alice invited 13 kids to her birthday party. I spent a lot of Friday night planning food and activities and goody bags. I think it went well. Except that they did the activities I planned supper quickly. Frank played with them in the rock room for a while and I think they really enjoyed that. At night I kind of just decompressed from the stress. The next day we slept in and then I cleaned the house up a bit. We set up my Christmas village while the babies slept. It was stressful again because the village is so delicate and things were getting broke and I don’t know where they went. When the babies woke up I had to have them watch Mrs. Rachel because it was too crazy. Frank was working in the basement.

December 11: I went to work today, we had a meeting for work at Lennox. It went okay, I hope I’m helping the construction guys a bit. That night I went home with the kids and Frank stayed late at work.

December 12: Today I worked at home, it was nice to be at home again with no one in the house. Sophia went to Regi with her class to watch a musical. I was sad a lot because I had a terrible dream about Adam, he fell off a play structure and died. I picked up the kids from school and then we had skating. Frank came and I went home with Sophia and the babies, he came because he was Santa Clause for Peters skating session. He said he had a good time and the kids liked it too.

December 13: This was my birthday. I had a safety meeting with the guys at work and they were so kind, they sang me happy birthday! I loved it. At home my family did too. It was okay, Frank was a bit grumpy because he stayed up really late the night before.

December 14-31: This is all kind of a blur, lots has happened. The holidays are busy. The kids went to school until December 22, that was nice. I was able to prepare as much as I could, as I also had to work. This year I didn’t bake any Christmas cookies. I did get the house cleaned pretty well and the gifts ready too. The girls had a skating show, it was super cute. My mom came to watch with me. The three oldest had a Christmas concert at school, also so cute. The babies wanted milk yesterday, I was upstairs. They brought me a milk bag and a knife to cut it open with. The other baby brought me there sippy cups, I mean they are smart to figure all that out. When I went downstairs, I realized that they tried to pour their own, there was milk all over the kitchen! Guess I should have been more attentive. Lucie and John came down for five days, so Henry got a lot of cousin time. Our kids loved him. Charlie was sick the whole time, so that sucked, he had strep throat. My brother Dan and Hanna also came with Olivia and Isabelle on Christmas, so it was nice to all get together. Tomas and Sheena just had a baby and we’re in San Francisco and Michelle spent Christmas with Bobby. They got married on the 14th, and she can’t come to Canada because she is trying to get her Visa. Oh yes, the wedding, it was just me and one of Bobby’s friends. I got to visit her in Elmira, and she bought a new house. It was nice and only 144K! She also brought me to a glass museum, it was amazing. During the break we also worked on our house, Frank put the floor in the office and I stained and lacquered the bench in the boot room. I took lots of pictures of Christmas.
