July 2023

July 1-2: Long weekend! We stayed at home. We worked on the library and hung out with the kids. It was so hot! The kids are done school I think they are happy to be at home. We went to Charleston Lake one night to swim, I had all 5 alone, it Was crazy, but after about an hour the babies calmed down and it was pretty nice.

July 3: Family Reunion. My family came down today, with their kids. My parents hosted a lunch. Tomas and Sheena didn’t make it, but everyone one else did. The cousins All got to play, it was nice. We had the 4km race. John won! Lucie was next, then me, then Dan, and then Frank. We had some drinks and went to bed.

July 4: Today I went to work. I was a bit hung over from Monday. It was nice to go to the office a focus again. I got a lot of stuff done. Frank dropped off the babies at daycare and had the other three. John and Lucie were still around so they all hung out, the cousins got to play. I think Peter has made two new best friends- Henry and Charlie. At night we went to ultimate frisbee and Costco. The babies went to rib fest with Heather, for daycare outing.

July 5: Busy day! The boys went to daycare and ai worked half a day from home. Frank had the other three for a bit in the morning. Then he went to the bar and they played in the living room. It was so hot. I cleaned the whole house, really cleaned. I packed everything. Alice was sick. At dinner time she felt a bit better maybe because she ate and it was cooler. Frank put up security cameras.

July 6: We are leaving! Today we started by finishing up packing the car. Frank stayed up late finishing his security cameras, so he slept in. We left around noon, which is pretty good for us! We drove to just outside Quebec City to an air bnb. It was beautiful old school house. In a remote area. The kids did okay driving, it was so hot! We stopped at a Walmart, just for the AC and to walk around for an hour.

July 7: Driving day! The school house was really nice. I didn’t sleep much though, single bunk beds with the twins wasn’t too comfortable. We were up early. The owner left us some eggs, so I made it for them with some potatoes, it was pretty good. The other kids woke up, and I went for a run. Then we went swimming in his pool, the kids loved it. We then packed up and started driving. We drove all the way to Bathurst, NB. They all did really well in the car, slept lots. We got a hotel room, for two nights. Hope Bathurst will be nice, it is on the coast.

July 8: Today was a nice day. Although this part of NB isn’t that beautiful as I thought, it was nice to be with the kids. We drove out to a peninsula, it was a lot of Acadian people and we went to an Acadian village. It was nice, kind of like upper Canada village, just with fishing stuff too. Frank stayed in the car and napped with the babies and I took SAP. It was fun, just really hot! After, we went to a beach. It was pretty nice for the kids because there was a giant playground and splash pad. I played a lot with A and B and Frank went in the ocean, it was super cold and rocky.

July 9: Another driving day! We left the hotel around noon, after we did laundry. We drove to Moncton and got an oil change and ice cream and some air mattresses at Walmart. we then went a cross the confederation bridge, it is the longest bridge in Canada, it was pretty cool. PEI is so pretty. Just like a fairy tale. The dirt is very red, and potatoes everywhere. We set up our camp and went down to the beach. It was dark, but, the kids seemed to really like it, how exciting to be at the beach at night! The water was very cold. The babies were well behaved and were pretty easy to put to sleep.

July 10: Today is the first full day in PEI. We bought new air mattress, but half were deflated this morning. Lucky me and the babies were good. It was pretty hot in our tent this morning and it forced us to get up. There is very little shade. We found out that last year there was Hurricane Fiona that ripped through the park and cleared all the trees. There are a ton of stumps, how pretty it would have been to see all the trees. We spent the morning at the beach. It was so cold! I played with the babies and Frank swam with SAP. We then went to Charlotte town to return the mattresses, and bought new ones. We saw the downtown, confederation buildings and drove back. PEI is very scenic. Then we went for a bike ride, playground. Frank took SAP to a drive-in to see Element. I stayed with the babies and we hung out at the campground. We also had a lot of fun.

July 11: Today was a kids day. In the morning I decided to go for a run, Sophia and Alice biked with me while I ran. It was one of the most beautiful runs I've ever been on. PEI is really pretty. Then we went to an amusement park. It was kind of like a giant fair, they got bracelets and kept riding on the rides all day. When it started to rain, we drove out to the Western part of PEI, not that scenic and the. Back to the fair. They went on more rides until 10pm. Then we went to bed.

July 12: Today was a hot sunny day in PEI! We woke up because our tent was so hot. Then we went for a 6km bike ride. It was hot, and the babies didn’t like it. My bike broke so I had to run about 4km while Frank towed my bike. The scenery was really pretty. Although the campground isn’t that nice because of the hurricane, the trails are very beautiful. We tried to go swimming, it was really cold. The kids didn’t go in, Frank went in a bit. I stayed on the beach and played with the twins. Then we were pretty hungry and went on a trip to Greenwhich dunes. It is a picture perfect beach, so beautiful. Still cold water, but, really pretty. We stayed there until sunset and the. Went to Charlottetown to do laundry and get some food/diapers. We were exhausted when we got home. Straight to bed.

July 13: Today was another hot day! So hot and no shade. We had breakfast and went for a bike ride. I ran the 7km and Frank pulled the boys. We then went to the beach, it was cold. Peter was so excited when he found a crab, and Adam was interested in it too, they were so cute playing at the beach. The. We took showers and had lunch. We then went for a drive while the babies napped. We found some local fisheries and Frank bought smoked salmon. It was so good, but pretty fatty. We went to a ripleys believe it or not, then had a campfire and went to bed.

July 14: It was so hot. No shade. We packed up our camp, I was in the tent and it was extra hot, thought I would pass out! We finally finished packing around noon and went to get ice cream and mood rings, Frank thought our whole family should have one! We then drove in the heat, it was awful because we have no ac! It was a 2.5hr drive, which took us 4 hrs. I don’t know why it always takes us so long. We stopped for lunch, and then drove to 5 island provincial park in Nova Scotia. Guess what, the site had no shade!!! We set up camp. Then Frank went to playground with the kids and me and Sophia went to get noodles for dinner. Everyone ate and we went to bed, the mosquitoes were pretty bad.

July 15: when we woke up, I went for a run. I went on a cliff hiking trail and didn’t think it would be so nice at the end as it was. It was really breathtaking!!! There were huge red cliffs coming out of the ocean, and a waterfall! When I got ack we went to the beach, then the geological museum and the kids seemed to like it. I was just so tired, even the clerk there told me I look exhausted 😴. Then the kids went to a playground with Frank and I stayed and tried to take a rest. I watched my phone, and then ordered dinner! We ate dinner and went home.

July 16: Today we woke up at five islands park. We tried the to go on the red cliff hike, but, it was hard with the babies. They cried in the stroller. I went just with Adam, Peter, and Alice. It was a 4 km hike. It was a very slow hike, but we made it! I was so proud of Peter and Alice too! They were beat! We went swimming to cool off and then went to the northern part of Nova Scotia, New Glasgow, to check it out. All the kids slept in the car. We went to Sinclair beach. I did laundry. We got back around 11pm and went to bed. It was a nice day.

July 17: We went to Halifax! First we went for a small workout, showered, and went to Halifax. It was almost 2 hours. Nova Scotia is really pretty. It rained a bit. SAP and me went to Pier 21 museum, it is where many immigrants to Canada passed through. It was an immigration museum. They didn’t seem interested in it, so we went walking around city after. Peter had to wear Franks shoes, because we forgot his back at camp. It was weird and funny. I went to Walmart after and bought him some shoes. We went down to the boardwalk and they loved walking around there. They had a playground. We also saw a fort, it was closed, but they had lots of questions. We got back at 1am! No sleep in, because it gets so hot in the tent by 9am, no shade.

July 18: Today was the start of our journey home. We packed up and left by noon. We checked out Hopewell rocks on the way home. Alice and Peter had a small mud fight. The bay of Fundy is pretty cool. We slept in a hotel in Fredricton that night.

July 19: Another day of travelling! We started off in Fredricton. The kids and Frank went to the pool. They got back at 10:50 and check out the as at 11! I tried to have everything ready, but, they all took showers and we were getting kicked out at 11:45. We then saw a bit of Fredricton and then drove to Edmunston. I didn’t really like the town, it smelled and we got a weird vibe there. I went for a small run and the kids played at the playground. We stayed about 1.5hrs, then we started driving to Quebec City. It was a long day and we arrived at 9pm. We then went to bed. Quebec is really pretty in some areas.

July 20: We left our hotel around 10:30 and went to check out the old part of Quebec City. It is so pretty, super touristy! It reminds me alot of Europe. The kids didn’t seem interested in it, they wanted candy and ice cream. But they were happy because Frank and I were happy. They asked a lot of questions about the fort there and why there was a huge wall around the city. We only stayed about 2 hours and then started the lasted home!

It was a long drive, and we made it to Montreal around 6pm. To give everyone a break we wanted to go to a mall, so we went downtown. We found parking and started walking to the mall. We walked into some sort of festival, so we checked it out. It was a lot of people and I don’t know if they liked it, really loud. We saw a DJ on a large stage with lights and a magic show, it was hot too. We went to the mall and everyone was pretty hungry. I bought two smoothies and they were gone within a minute. We walked back to the car, bought some dinner and drove home. We got back around midnight. What a trip!

July 21: Sophias birthday!!! She woke up and was excited for her birthday. It was crazy being home, lots of emotions being back in the work house! We took the twins to daycare and I started unpacking the car. I need to clean it up because on Sunday the girls go to camp. We went to Gananoque to buy some groceries and then we played video games, Sophia wanted too. We tried to go swimming at Charleston Lake, it rained a lot. I tried to go with Sophia and Peter, but I was so cold! The water was warm but the rain made me cold. We last a bit and went home. I made spaghetti and we played Catan, the real one. We had cake and went to bed. I can’t believe I have been a parent for 10years!!! It does go by fast.

July 22: Today we worked in the morning, I was unpacking and Frank cleaned his car. Then we went to Charleston Lake for a swim. I stayed in the car with the babies, while SAP and Frank swam. Then we went to the Lansdowne fair. We saw a derby and went on rides. SAP loved the rides. Especially Peter. We tried to put A and B on a small ride. A cried, so they stopped it to take him off. B was okay.

July 23: After I washed all the clothes and sleeping bags…I repacked them because Sophia and Alice went to camp today. Camp IAWAH. They went last year and are really excited to go again. Alice is doing a 3 day camp and Sophia, 1 week.

July 24-26: Back to work! It was a pretty rough transition, vacation back to work. Luckily the boys go to daycare and the girls are at camp. So it was easy for Frank. I went to the office and also to Toronto. I was really impressed with the Toronto crews and how much stuff is happening, they are always so nice to me.

July 27: Toady I went to the office. I was so busy. Frank was at home with Peter and Alice. I don’t know what they do all day, I think it would be really nice. Adam and Benjamin go to daycare. I stayed late at work trying to finish up a schedule. Then I went for a run. It’s pretty hot outside +30s.

July 28: Friday! I worked from home today. Fridays are usually half days for the people at my office, so no one comes in, they work from home too. Sophia is still at camp, the twins went to daycare, and Alice and Peter for most of the day went swimming with Babi and Deda. I helped Frank cut the grass. I did the parking lot with the push mower, because the rocks are big and he doesn’t want to take the ride on in there. I also worked on my garden a little bit. That night I hung out with the kids.

July 29: Big clean day! Karl, Franks stepbrother, is coming to visit us. I cleaned half the day, just trying to make our house look okay. It’s hard because we are still renovating. In the morning I went to pick up Sophia, it was so nice to her again ❤ I did miss her! It is nice to have our family complete again. We ran some errands in Kingston. Then when we came home, it was almost time for the wedding to start, it was raining a lot ☹. So they moved there wedding indoors and then it became sunny! They had a great wedding, so much alcohol! Frank left at night to get Karl, and I cleaned some more.

July 30: Franks birthday! Frank was tired because he stayed up late with Karl. They did some stuff around the house and hung out, I got to hang out with the kids, it was really nice. We had an ice cream cake and a meringue cake that Babi and Deda made for Frank. It was delicious. Frank was happy to show Karl around to see all the work he has been doing around the property.
