May 2023

May 1: Monday! Alice didn’t go to school because her fever was high. She wasn’t too happy because today her class did the liturgy and a poetry cafe. She has been working hard on writing poems in class. Adam and Benjamin went to daycare. Adam has snot coming out of one of his ears, it doesn’t seem to bother him, it is just kind of gross. Sophia and Peter went to school. I worked from home and had Alice with me. When it was the end of the day I went to clean up some Branches in the forest. Frank worked a bit on the washrooms. Then we went to clean out the barn a little bit, to get ready for weddings in two weeks! Frank is still sick and I hope he feels better soon.

May 2-3: Thursday and Friday. Frank worked both the days, and so did I. Alice was at home with me, because she is sick. I went to Toronto one day because I have a new project that I am the field scheduler for, at Wilson TS. I am getting pretty busy at work. The twins are getting pretty smart and communicative, they don’t talk yet, but I definitely know what they want through there grunts and pointing. They are very busy. It is impossible to do anything with them. I can’t go outside because the rooster wants to jump on them and they don’t stay near me.

May 5: Friday. Today is Frank’s very last day of teaching, until September. I think he is pretty happy. He is really stressed about his bubble breakup stuff, it isn’t working the way he wanted. Sophia is feeling a bit sick. Alice was at home again today, I hope she gets better soon. Peter is a trooper, I love his positive attitude on everything he does, what a great boy! Adam is a daredevil and he also has oozing ears, with mucas, hope it clears up soon. Benjamin is just super chill and loves the Jolly Jumper.

May 6-7: The weekend! This is the last weekend before weddings start. Frank cut the grass, and we had lots of visitors. I cleaned the barn a lot, there is so much racoon poo and spiderwebs. It is high up, people can’t see it, I went up with a ladder and hopefully got it all. I almost finished cleaning the barn this weekend. I am also pretty stressed about work. Sophia was sick all weekend. We had a chicken die. Alice cleaned cars. Peter moved some wood and cleaned the boot room. Hopefully things will get less crazy for us soon.

May 8-12: The beginning of the week. It is busy at work. Frank is done teaching for the summer, but he is still busy with his bubble break up stuff. Hopefully he will pop some bubbles soon. I have started gardening because we have a wedding on the 13th and I want to property to look nice. It is pretty stressful, these weddings. We went to Kingston on Tuesday to run some errands. Sophia was at home with me and Frank all week. I went to the office only once this week, on Monday. Adam and Benjamin went to the doctor on Thursday. They both were prescribed antibiotics for there ear infections. Benjamin ears look fine though….Adam had mucus coming out of both ears, and it started to smell. The doctor said he had ruptured his ear drum because the infection built up too much :( poor guy. I cleaned up the barn and washrooms, Frank cut the grass. Michelle is here this week, so she was able to help me with the dishes for the barn. Sophia has been home sick all week, she was really weak on Monday, but by Friday she seemed a lot better. Peter got to learn all about volcanoes this week, he seemed really excited :).

May 13-14: This was the weekend. What a busy weekend! We started by finishing up getting ready for the wedding. Frank did garbage and put jack posts into the barn, I took care of the kids. The couple was early, so they were here all day. They started getting ready at 10:30 and by 12 they were taking pictures. There ceremony started at 4. I had to bartend, it was a dry wedding, so I thought it would be super easy. It wasn’t, they wanted me to make cocktails, lots of ingredients in the drinks. Luckily Michelle was able to help me out, there were line ups! I was really busy during the wedding, lots of errands I had to do for them. It was a super fun wedding, seemed like a great group of people and they just had a great time, with no alcohol. I was able to come home around 9:30 to help put the kids to bed and clean up. The next day, we went to Sandbanks. We went on the sand dunes, it was really fun for the kids. I had a good time and the kids did too. I am exhausted after the weekend. Looking forward to going back to work.

May 15-29: Life is very busy! I don’t know if I can handle it, it seems that every part of my life needs more attention, but I literally don’t have the time to devote to it. I feel that the three major things in my life – my family, my job, and our business could all use more TLC by me, and I sometimes feel like I’m not doing enough, even though I’m losing it. This is a hard time. Here is what is happening with all of us for the past two weeks. Frank: He has been working on his bubble stuff while the kids are away at school and daycare. Frank is getting frustrated that it isn’t working as he wanted it too. He feels like giving up. He wants to finish his thesis. He also installed a fan in the washrooms and cuts grass for the weddings. He is busy. We went to see Jimmy Carr on the weekend. Frank really had a good time. Marie: Work for Hydro One during the day, it has picked up a lot since I started. A guy in our group has been promoted to a new role, so he off loaded some of his work on to me. I still try to run 4km a day, to keep me sane and healthy. I have been taking the girls to dance on Tuesdays and Skating on Wednesdays. I am finding it very hard to balance work with family life, and I have also been bartending weddings and cleaning up after the weddings to prepare for the new wedding. Michelle borrowed my car and it broke down in the US, so now I don’t have a car, she isn’t being very nice about it and keeps putting me down that I don’t know what I’m talking about it. It is very upsetting; I don’t want to talk to her. Honda doesn’t know what is wrong with it either, so we must tow it back to Canada and ask the thousand Island Mechanic what is wrong with it. Sophia: Working hard at school. Sophia seems to really like school. She is really into the Mario movie right now. She has watched it a few times already. She is improving on her reading. She washes the dishes and helps me out. She loves her chickens and ducks. Today she is cleaning the chicken coop, it is full of poop from the whole year. It is pretty gross. We had some ducklings hatch, so she takes care of them. They are in a box living in our home, until they are big enough to go outside. Three hatched outside under the mommy duck, but the other mommy duck killed them, so that is why we took the other 4 inside. She didn’t pass her level 5 skating but tried really hard. I’m proud of her that she wants to try again in the fall. Alice: Alice works hard in all part of her life. She loves to dance and run and is pretty popular in school. She passed her level 5 skating and is excited to continue to do it in the fall. She works very hard in school, always eager to do her homework and to make me happy. She went to Ella’s birthday party and she had her first communion. She is a bit messy, but tries to be organized. She loves her brothers. Peter: So emotional! He is enthusiastic in all part of his life. He’s either very happy, very excited, very angry, or very sad. It is hard to have him be calm. He has a lot of energy and he is full of knowledge that he is always willing to share “Mommy, water is really healthy…” “Did you know that this coin is 10cents….” “Did you know…..” He is learning how to read very simple words, I am so proud of him. He does enjoy math and playing with lego. We have a reward system for him, if he is good, he gets a happy face. When he fills the board, he gets Lego. It is working for him. He knows how to be a good boy, I just wished he practiced it all the time. At Alices first communion, he had a melt down in church, about not having his ribbon (from skating), and it was super embarrassing. He did not pass his level 1 skating, but he does seem to enjoy it. Benjamin and Adam: These two boys are quiet, but so busy. They literally get into everything. We have to put chairs ontop of the table, because they would otherwise move the chair somewhere, and use it to get up on the counters. They love being outside. They know they have to wear shoes and keep trying to get themselves dressed. When one is crying, the other tries to comfort. B still uses a soother. Heather, is the lady that takes care of them during the day, is fantastic. She does lots of activities with them. They still do not talk. I know what they want, but wish I had more time to teach them words. The doctors told me they should know 50 words, they maybe know 5. On May 28th Frank and I went to see Jimmy Carr. They went to Heather’s overnight, it was hard not sleeping with them at night. Alice took their spot, so I cuddled her instead. Happy Life Farms – We had two more weddings in the past weekend. The May 20th one, it rained a lot. They had there wedding in the barn. The sound system didn’t work very well at all, so we went out and bought a much better one. The next wedding was on May 27th, it was beautiful. They drank a lot! They had a really good time. I bartended both weddings. I had some help with the second one, not because I wanted it, because the mother’s kind of told these two girls to help me, I didn’t want them too, I like running the bar my way. Oh well, whatever keeps them happy. I helped with the dishes because my parents were away until the25th. It was hard because I didn’t have time to clean them, I was stressed out. My parents luckily helped me out after they came back. We have 19 more weddings left this summer.

May 30: Today I worked from home. SAP went to school. The twins at home because the daycare is closed for the rest of the week. Frank watched the babies so I can work. He just kind of hung out with them. At night we went to dance with the girls. I had the twins with me. It was really hard to have them, because there is a lake outside and they kept wanting to go close to the water. Or they wanted to run around the parking lot. Frank went to ultimate frisbee with Peter. The girls were suppose to go, but, they had one more week of dance. We went to Costco and the Music store to pick up our new speakers. We had pizza for dinner.

May 31: Today I went to Toronto for work. In the am I went to Cherrywood and afternoon to Wilson TS. I felt my meeting went well, the construction guys were nice to me and seemed to care about what I was doing. When I got home I met Frank and the kids at soccer. It was Peter and Alice’s first game. We pulled Sophia out because she is older and her games are on Tuesday nights, but, that is the night of Ultimate Frisbee for her, which she wants to do more. Peter seemed kind of interested, but ran off the field a few times to get goldfish crackers. Alice was a Confident goalie, so when she let two goals in, she had a breakdown:(. Luckily we cheered her up and she went back in and tried again. When we came home we had dinner and went to bed.
